​❤️Etymology-The name Sahara comes from the Arabic word Sahra, which translation of the Tuareg tenere (=dessert, sand). The Romas called it terra deserta (empty, abandoned land). In the Middle Ages it was known simply as the Great Dessert. The name Sahara came into general use only in the 19th century, Arabs, rather poetically, call it the "waterless sea" (bahr bela ma)
