❤️Strange: An often repeated through never verified tale holds that in the early 19th century British colonial leader planned to dis-assembe the Taj Mahal and bring it back to England, where pieces of it were to be auctioned off. 
❤️Uncertain: No one is quite sure when the Taj Mahal was finished. The date is usually given as 1654, but Shah Jahan's court chronicles record the building period as beginning one year after Mumtaz death (1631) and continuing for 12 years which dates is completion to 1643. Meanwhile, the inscription over the main gate claims it was finished in 1648. In 1652, Prince Aurangzeb remarked in a letter that the Taj Mahal was already in need of repairs.
